The Aboriginal Literacy Foundation offers a wide range of books ranging in skill levels that are aimed at improving the standard of literacy among young Indigenous students. The books include stories from Aboriginal communities, and the majority of writing and artwork has been developed by Aboriginal children and adults. Aboriginal characters feature in the books, and the language used is inclusive of Aboriginal English. The stories present positive images of Aboriginal life and reflect the diversity amongst Indigenous communities throughout the country.
Three series of books are currently available, which include books for Little Fullas, aimed at early-stage primary children, with skill levels ranging from 1-7, and books for Big Fullas, aimed at students with a more developed skill level, ranging between Easy, Medium and Hard.
Teacher’s Guide Packs are also available for each series of books, which includes all books in the series, along with a Teacher’s Guide, which contain cultural notes, guided lesson plans, and blackline masters for each book in the series.
